I love your view.
I am a senior Early Childhood Education major and I am graduating in December. The more time i spend in the class room, the more i realize just what you said.
I do not need to be that one person that changes the world. Where are my students going to get if I go into teaching with this expectation for the way things are going to be? I need to be flexible so that I can meet every child's needs and every situation that comes up unexpectedly. These situations are going to teach me how to be a better teacher, not trying to be superman (or woman).
